The year in the co-op was fun and definitely an experience I’m glad I had - but after a year, the internal politics (and presence of on the one hand some rather obnoxious weirdos and on the other freeloaders attracted by extremely low cost) meant we felt like we had to get out. We found an upper flat on Jenifer Street in the Willy Street neighborhood, which we originally were going to share with another former co-op denizen and his girlfriend. He backed out at the last minute, deciding that since he was typically in the computer lab until 4 in the morning every night, he might as well live closer to the computer sciences building. (Their relationship didn’t work out so well either although they eventually got back together and married) So we ended up with Andy’s ex-girlfriend, and found a 4th tenant, another woman from Milwaukee - who was nice but a little odd, particularly in her choice of boyfriend, an enormous oaf whom we christened "The Ugliest Man in the World" (because he was).
